Weekly Agenda May 22nd-May 26th

This is the last week of school. Please remember the Awards Ceremony is Wednesday, May 24th (8:30-9:30 am) in the gym.

Also, Friday, May 26th is a half day for students. (8-11:30 am)

We will complete our unit on Feed the Hungry Unit this week.

Thursday, May 18th &  Friday, May 19th - Unit on the hunger problem in the United States. The unit will consist of close read and text-dependent questions on articles that cover the issue.

Weekly Agenda May 1st - May 5th


This week we will present our demonstration speeches. Speeches will begin on May 1st. Make sure you have your topic approved and you have signed up for your presentation date. Students will complete the typed outline in class Friday, April 28th.

Friday, April 7th: Quiz on Zlata's Diary-----Study Guide will be provided in class next week.

Next week we will be finalizing our pronoun agreement review. Then we will continue reading "Zlata's Diary". We will do a close read and text dependent questions on the text.

The quiz on "Zlata's Diary" will be on Friday. Students need to study the guides they receive in class

Weekly Agenda:
We will review previously learned standards. TN Ready (TCAP) In addition, we will begin a close read of "Zlata's Diary". If time permits, we will work on text-dependent questions using the text.

Weekly Agenda March 20th-March 24th

March 20th-March 24th – Students are writing a personal narrative essay in class. Rough draft will be due by Wednesday, March 22nd. Final essay will be due by Friday, March 24th.

Monday, March 6th : Argument speech and PowerPoint Due

Weekly Agenda:
Argument speech & PowerPoint on driverless cars. The students must have a 2-3 minute speech, and a PowerPoint that will be used as a visual aid. We have been working on this in class. The speech and PowerPoint are due Monday, March 6th. Once the students complete the speech presentations, we will begin working on a personal narrative essay.

Weekly Agenda February 27th-March 3rd

Weekly Agenda Writing:
This week we will continue working on a unit about driverless cars! We will read and annotate multiple texts, complete a pro/con organizer, choose a side. Then, we will prepare a speech and powerpoint on the topic.

Please make sure you have completed and submitted to Schoology your Argumentative Writing Graphic Organizer Pros/Cons on Driverless Cars and the Argumentative Speech Outline.

Writing - Extra Credit

Extra Credit for Prompt Vocabulary-

Due 2/24/17

*Define each vocab word using the sheet that I have published on Schoology. *Type the Word-Definition

*After that, create a writing prompt using each vocabulary word correctly. This can be a prompt that pertains to any subject. For example, “Analyze the Fall of the Roman Empire.”  Prompts must be at least 6 words or more in length to receive credit.

Extra credit is due by Friday, February 24th.
