Weekly Agenda Feb. 6th- February 10th


What an exciting week at SFMS! The students are enjoying working on the iPads! What an awesome opportunity for the students and teachers.

This week we will be reading and annotating two texts on whether or not the driving age should be raised to 18. Students are writing a four-paragraph argument essay. This will be done in class.
We will also continue working in Schoology and utilizing several new apps.
There will be no tests this week in Writing.
February 10th is Teacher District Day – No School for Students.

This is an exciting week at Schilling Farms Middle.
On Wednesday, February 1st students will receive IPADS!

Monday, January 30th & Tuesday, January 31st - Pro/Con: Is it time to label GMO foods - writing assignment in class.
Wednesday, February 1st: iPad Rollout!!!!! *Homeroom all day!
Thursday, February 2nd & Friday, February 3rd – We will be working with Schoology in class.

This week we will be working on evaluating arguments. The subject the students will focus on is whether or not foods that contain GMO's should be labeled. The students will read multiple texts on the issue.

Weekly Agenda
George Washington’s Rules of Civility - Citing textual evidence. This is a class activity.
We will begin evaluating arguments using texts about whether or not foods that contain GMO's should be labeled.

“The Case of the Monkeys That Fell From the Trees”
We will continue to review Text Dependent Questions over the story “The Case of the Monkeys"
Students will receive a study guide and the test will be on Thursday, January 12th.

Weekly Agenda:

This week we will write our New Years Resolution Essays. Once the essays are complete, we will read "The Case of the Monkeys that Fell from the Trees" from the literature book. We will have a test on that reading selection on Tuesday, January 10th. I will update with any date changes.

This week in writing class we will work on a essay entitled “Twas the night before….”
In addition, we will work on writing portfolios and documentation.

Students will receive a copy of reading and study guide on Monday, December 8th.

Thursday, November 10th: CFA on Pronouns (30-40 min in length)
Friday, November 11th: No School-Veterans Day

Weekly Agenda:
This week we will be working on citing evidence from various informational texts, thesis statements/claims, and argument writing.
We will work on pronouns to prepare for the CFA. The pronoun CFA is on Thursday. Please bring a book to read in case you finish early.
It is a good idea to do some online quizzes and games on pronouns. Google search: "Free online quizzes and games using pronouns for middle school".
