P.E.

Course Description

Week of August 7 - August 11:
 
Students will go over policies and procedures in the gym. 
 
August 14 - August 18:
 
Students will be given their assigned seats in the gym and will review fire drill procedures.
 
August 21 - August 25:
 
Students will learn the proper way to warm up, stretch, and run.
 
August 28 -- September 1:
 
We are beginning our Fitness Testing this week. Students will test in Sit Ups, Push Ups, Pull Ups, and the Sit and Reach Flexibility Test. 
 
September 5 -- September 8:
 
We are continuing our Fitness Testing this week.  We will also run the 20 meter Pacer test and graph our results for September.
 
September 11 -- September 14
*No school on Friday, September 15, due to District Learning Day.
 
We are starting our unit in soccer.  Students will learn the speed dribble and control dribble.
 
September 18 - September 22
 
We are continuing our unit on soccer. Students will learn how to pass the ball. Students will get a study guide this week. They will take their test on their iPad the first day they come to PE next week. (Make sure your iPad is charged!)
 
September 25 - September 29
 
We are continuing our unit on soccer. Students will learn how to shoot the ball.  We will also play games of soccer this week. Students in my 5-day classes will take their soccer test on their iPads the first day they come to PE this week.
 
**PE Make Up Days are Tuesday, September 26, and Thursday, September 28, at 6:45 a.m.  Students should come to school in their PE uniform, ready to participate in a PE class.
 
October 2 - October 6
 
We are running the Mile Run this week.  We will also run the 20 meter Pacer and graph our results for October.
 
October 9 - October 13
FALL BREAK!! HAVE A GREAT BREAK!!
 
October 16 - October 20
 
We are beginning our unit on Ultimate Frisbee.  Students will learn the backhand throw, the pancake catch, and the one-handed catch.
 
October 23 - October 27
 
We are continuing our unit on Ultimate Frisbee. Students will learn the forehand throw.  
 
October 30 - November 3
 
We are finishing our unit on Ultimate Frisbee. Students will learn the rules of the game and play games of frisbee in PE.
 
November 6 - November 10
 
We are running the 20 meter Pacer test and recording our results for November.  We are also starting a new unit -- Pickleball.
 
November 13 - November 17
 
We are continuing our unit on Pickleball.
 
November 20 - November 21 ~ Have a GREAT Thanksgiving! We have much to be thankful for!
 
We are continuing our unit on Pickleball.  
 
November 27 - December 1
 
We are starting our unit on Bowling. Students will learn the grip, stance, 4-step approach, and release. We will bowl on our lanes in the gym.
 
December 4 - December 8
 
We are continuing our unit on Bowling. Students will speed bowl. They will see how many pins they can knock down in one minute.
 
December 11 - December 15
 
We are running the 20 meter Pacer test for December and graphing our results.
 
December 18 - December 20 ~ Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  See you in January!

January 3 - 5 ~ Happy New Year!

January 8 - January 12 -- Basketball 
We will finish running the 20 meter Pacer test and graph our results for January.
We will begin our unit on basketball.  Students will learn how to dribble the ball.
 
January 16 - January 19
We are continuing our unit on basketball.  Students will learn how to pass the ball.
 
January 22 - January 26
We are continuing our unit on basketball.  Students will learn how to shoot the ball.
 
January 29 - February 2
We are finishing up our unit on basketball.  Students will play games in PE. 
 
February 5 - February 9
Students will play games of basketball in gym.
We will also run the 20 meter Pacer test and record our results for February.
 
February 12 - February 15
Students will play games of basketball in gym.
No school for students on Friday, February 16, due to District Learning Day.
 
February 20 - February 23
No school on Monday, February 19, due to Presidents' Day.
We are starting our volleyball unit this week. Students will learn the Underhand Serve.
 
February 26 - March 2
PE Make Up Days are Tuesday, February 28, and Thursday, March 1, in the gym at 6:45 a.m. Students should come dressed in their PE uniform ready to participate in a PE class.
Students will run the 20 meter Pacer and record their results for March.
We are continuing our volleyball unit this week. Students will learn the Bump Pass.
 
March 5 - March 9
We are continuing our unit on volleyball this week. Students will learn the Set Pass.
 
March 12 - March 16
ENJOY YOUR SPRING BREAK!! 
 
March 19 - March 23
We are continuing our unit on Volleyball.  Students will learn the rules of volleyball, how to rotate, and will play games of volleyball.
 
March 26 - March 29
