My Classroom Mission

Our classroom mission is to work together to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to develop a healthy, active lifestyle, as well as an understanding and respect for all classmates and cultures.

About Me

My name is David Culbertson.  I teach Physical Education here at West Collierville Middle School.  This is my 22nd year as a teacher at SFMS/WCMS.  I am originally from Rancho Cordova, California and attended California State University, Sacramento where I received my B.S. in Physical Education.  I received my Masters in Physical Education from Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas.

I relocated to the Memphis area in 1997, from Rancho Cordova, and currently live in Collierville.  I have 2 daughters, Kimber and Heather, both married; Kimber, the oldest, lives in Arizona, with her husband and 4 children; while, Heather resides in Florida, with her husband and three children.

My youngest, Peyton, graduated from Arkansas State, in the Fall 2019; in addition, he married Kelsey Ball, Fall of 2019, and currently resides in Collierville. The Summer of 2018, he was drafted by Major League Baseball, Miami Marlins, in the 8th Round, as a pitcher.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my kids, attending church, working out, coaching baseball, training youth athletes, and attending sporting events.

Physical Education

Physical Education at WCMS is centered around developing an active, healthy lifestyle for all students by promoting open-minded, caring, and respectful participants in a variety of activities. For more information, such as the grading guidelines, discipline procedures and positive reinforcement plan, please review the WCMS website under the link to the Physical Education section.

If you have any questions please contact me by email at: [email protected]

We look forward to an active and fun year at WCMS!
