September 18 - September 22, 2017

This week we are still collecting, the last few, of our letters, that were sent home to parents and students, regarding POLAR Heart Rate Monitors? Rollout for student use, has changed, by Collierville Schools, which now begins September 18th. These letters MUST be signed by student and parents, in order for students to use the heart rate monitors. If, a student and/or parent wishes to opt out, they may do so, but I/we still need that in writing.

Introductory Lessons will begin, this week, in using the POLAR Heart Rate monitors. This will include, students understanding of their Resting Heart Rate, individual Target Heart Rate Zone, Training Zones and there health functions, etc.....

We have concluded our fitness testing, using the FitnessGram protocol, with the occasional make-up, due to student missing a test. Mile Run will be completed in early October, before Fall Break.

Our fitness program, also includes our Final Four Challenge, where students have the opportunity, to earn dry-fit shirts, that they may wear during PE class, instead of the gray t-shirt. Students will be notified, IF they have completed ALL requirements to earn a Final Four shirt, once they have submitted their Mile Run times.

This next week, we will continue to introduce the game of Golf. We will start with learning to swing irons - 7 and/or a 9. We will teach the interlocking grip and the swing: backswing, downswing, striking the ball, and the follow-through.

We really encourage our students to do homework in physical education, by practicing our warm-ups, stretching, strength exercises, aerobic exercise and a cool-down.

In addition, our homework could include, studying for our Golf Test, that we will take next week.
