October 16 - October 20, 2017

 
 This week, we will introduce the game of Badminton and/or Pickleball. We will start with learning the grip and the swing: backhand, forehand, striking the ball for the Serve.
 
After having a week off for Fall Break, again, We really encourage our students to do homework in physical education, by practicing our warm-ups, stretching, strength exercises, aerobic exercise and a cool-down.
 
This week, our homework could include, practicing the grip and skills of the Badminton and/or Pickleball.

October 2 - October 6, 2017

This week, we will run our monthly Pacer Run. Students goal is to run 5 or more, lengths that they completed in September. Also, they will be able to monitor their heart rate and effort level, in participating in the Pacer Run.
 
In addition, we will conclude our pre-test, in fitness testing, using the FitnessGram protocol. This measurement of fitness also includes our Final Four Challenge, where students have the opportunity, to earn dry-fit shirts, that they may wear during PE class, instead of the gray t-shirt. Our last test, the Mile Run will be completed this week.

September 25 - September 29, 2017

 
This week, we will continue lessons, in using the POLAR Heart Rate monitors. This will include, students understanding of their Resting Heart Rate, individual Target Heart Rate Zone, Training Zones and there health functions, etc.....
 
We have concluded our fitness testing, using the FitnessGram protocol, with the occasional make-up, due to student missing a test. We will continue working towards, Mile Run, which will be completed, next week, first week in October, before Fall Break. We will also, complete the Pacer Run, for October, next week.
 
Our fitness program, also includes our Final Four Challenge, where students have the opportunity, to earn dry-fit shirts, that they may wear during PE class, instead of the gray t-shirt. Students will be notified, IF they have completed ALL requirements to earn a Final Four shirt, once they have submitted their Mile Run times.
 
This next week, we will continue to introduce the game of Golf. We will continue learning to swing irons - 7 and/or a 9. We will review, the interlocking grip and the swing: backswing, downswing, striking the ball, and the follow-through. However, this week, we will be practicing these skills, in playing simulation games/matches in Golf. A course will be set-up for the students to practice their skills and learn, a little about how the game is played. 
 
We really encourage our students to continue doing homework in physical education, by practicing our warm-ups, stretching, strength exercises, aerobic exercise and a cool-down.
 
In addition, our homework should include, studying for our Golf Test, that we will taken this week - 5 Day PE students.

September 18 - September 22, 2017

This week we are still collecting, the last few, of our letters, that were sent home to parents and students, regarding POLAR Heart Rate Monitors? Rollout for student use, has changed, by Collierville Schools, which now begins September 18th. These letters MUST be signed by student and parents, in order for students to use the heart rate monitors. If, a student and/or parent wishes to opt out, they may do so, but I/we still need that in writing.

August 21 - 25, 2017

This past week, we discussed, that bad word student's DO NOT like to hear - homework! I am challenging ALL student's to get some "homework" completed this weekend, in physical education: perform our Stretches, Strength Exercises and Aerobic Conditioning, that we perform in class.
 
This coming week we will be introducing/reviewing our first nine-weeks Stretching, Exercise and Aerobic Conditioning program, in preparation of next weeks FitnessGram Fitness Testing.

August 14 - 18, 2017

This week we will be reviewing Fire Drill procedures, assigning seats and filling out FitnessGram Scoresheets and writing goals in Physical Education. We will continue collecting Health Form/Polices and Procedures and issuing PE Uniforms.
 
Later in the week, we should begin our Introduction to Physical Education, first nine-weeks movement preparation/stretching, strength exercises and running activities.
